The U.S. is considering Ebola drug to treat coronavirus patients.
A study conducted by the US national institute of health suggests that the drug could improve the chances of survival for every coronavirus patient by as much as 30 percent.
As it could also speed up recovery up to just 11 days.
The drug is made by Gilead sciences and the company’s chief executive Daniel O’ Day met with the president in the oval office.
The drug is also believed to treat 140.000 coronavirus patients in the UK by the end of May and has been described by UK’s chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance as “Promising”.
Interest in the remdesivir has been high as there is no vaccine for the virus currently.
Gilead said on Wednesday the drug had helped improve outcomes for patients with covid19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
