The shocking day finally came
Brian May, Queen's lead guitarist, tested positive for COVID-19.
May announced the news on his Instagram account, saying, "Yep. The frightening day had finally arrived for me. The ominous red double line. And, please, no compassion - it's been a very horrific few days, but I'm well. And I'll tell you the story. Please be extra cautious out there, nice people. This thing is quite contagious. You do NOT want it to ruin YOUR Christmas. Bri's heartfelt greetings." He also shared a picture of his test results.

The information comes as the number of COVID cases continues to rise. The Omicron variant continues to drive the daily COVID caseload to new pandemic highs. More than 88,376 coronavirus infections were confirmed in the United Kingdom on Thursday, with over 11,000 cases of Omicron detected.
Despite the lack of formal government instructions ordering companies to close, cinemas and live theaters remain open, and production on movies and television shows continues under COVID safety regulations, as it has for much of the epidemic.
May co-founded Queen with lead vocalist Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor, and co-wrote some of their most memorable songs, including "We Will Rock You," "Hammer to Fall," "Who Wants to Live Forever," "I Want It All," and "The Show Must Go On." Queen has been rediscovered by a new generation of fans, owing in part to "Bohemian Rhapsody," a 2019 biography of Mercury that was a box office success and earned an Oscar for Rami Malek's lead role.
