Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are finally divorced after a decade of separation, having struck a $400 million settlement held up by 'lack of effort.'
According to TMZ, a sitting judge was necessary on Tuesday in L.A. Superior Court to formally register the divorce into the court system after a private judge negotiated and signed off on the divorce earlier in December 2021.
Arnold and Maria were notoriously estranged for years when the journalist filed for divorce on July 1, 2011 after it was revealed that he fathered a kid, Joseph Baena, with their maid Mildred Patricia 'Patty' Baena.
The divorce stalled for a decade owing to both his 'lack of enthusiasm' and a convoluted property settlement arrangement, despite the fact that his empire included a Brentwood house, an Idaho vacation home, and a number of investment properties.
According to The Blast, the pair, who married in 1986 at St Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, Massachusetts, had an estimated net worth of over $400 million but had to share it in half because they did not have a prenup.
The actor has made no secret of his interest in real estate, recently revealing that he made his first million dollars in real estate rather than performing. 'I didn't rely on my movie career to make a livelihood,' he remarked.
He still owns multiple real estate holding firms in Los Angeles, primarily in Venice Beach. He owns an office complex, as well as high-end homes and other assets.
The couple is thought to have divided their property empire. According to The Blast, the exes were eventually able to share their income pretty equally, although the exact settlement is still unknown.

Maria and Arnold married in 1986 without a prenuptial agreement. Katherine, 32, Christina, 30, Patrick, 28, and Christopher, 24 are their four children.
Joseph is now 24 years old and is close to his action star father, with the two frequently going to the gym together and chronicling their workouts on Instagram.
Despite their divorce, the ex-couples have remained friendly throughout the years and have both moved on romantically.
Arnold has been dating Heather Milligan, a physical therapist, for nearly eight years, while Maria was dating Matthew Dowd.
