Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the 27th overall, is a sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Tom Holland plays Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man), a high school student with spider-like superpowers, in the film. The plot picks up after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) exposed Peter as Spider-Man and accused him of murder. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter seeks the assistance of Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in order to regain his life and secret identity. Dr. Strange's spell, however, does not go as intended, and the magic tears open the universe, allowing supervillains from different realities who battled other versions of Spider-Man to appear in the MCU's Spider-Verse.
In an interview with Uproxx in February 2021, Holland, who has a reputation among fans for spoiling MCU films, stated that some secrets about Spider-Man: No Way Home had been leaked before the film's release while others remained a mystery. "It's a delicate situation...sometimes the fans figure it out, sometimes they don't." "Sometimes they find out one thing and it opens up a whole universe of possibilities, and they go off on a tangent that couldn't be more different or more accurate to what we're doing," he explained.
"It's a shame that things get leaked and damaged sometimes." But, for the time being, I believe we're doing a pretty excellent job of keeping the things that need to be kept a secret a secret with this picture. And I'm sure there are things going on that I'm not aware of. I mean, because of this crazy myth that I spoil movies, I'm generally the last one to figure out what's going on!"
"But, I believe, the problematic thing about those questions is: it's a question that will elicit an emotion regardless of the answer," he said. So it's one of those situations where you just have to find out how to handle it the best manner possible. Should I tell the truth? Should I tell you the truth? Should I just say, 'I don't know what to say.' Should I say, 'I can't confirm or deny'? There is nothing you can say that will not elicit a reaction from the fans. As a result, it's a two-edged sword. It has the potential to be fantastic. It can be beneficial, but it can also be harmful at times."

Spider-Man: No Way Home has two post-credit sequences. However, there is just one typical Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credit sequence. The first post-credit scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home shows Venom, while the second post-credit scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home is a promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock from 2018's Venom and 2020's Venom: Let There Be Carnage appears in the first Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credit sequence. Eddie, who was transferred to the MCU's Spider-Verse after Doctor Strange's spell backfired, is in a bar on a beach in Mexico, asking the bartender questions about the MCU's heroes and villains. He refers to Iron Dude as a "tin suit," the Hulk as a "green man," and Thanos as an extraterrestrial who "collects stones."
Eddie makes fun of Thanos by telling the bartender that aliens on his planet (a.k.a. Venom) don’t “collect stones” and instead, control people’s minds. The bartender tells him that he lost his family for five years because of Thanos, which makes Eddie a bit more sympathetic to what happened after the snap. Eddie tells the bartender that he should go to New York City to find Spider-Man to figure out a way to return to his universe. As he gets up, Venom tells Eddie that he’s drunk. The bartender also tells Eddie that he needs to pay for his drink. But before Eddie can do so, he vanishes in the same way the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb Spider-Man characters vanished in Spider-Man: No Way Home as the bartender complains about how he knew Eddie wouldn’t pay. Just before the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credit scene ends, the camera zooms in on a drop of black goo as it moves across the bar, hinting that Venom will be in the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credit sequence comes after the film's producer, Amy Pascal, stated in a November 2021 interview with Fandango that another Spider-Man trilogy starring Holland is in the works. "This isn't the final movie we'll create with Marvel—this isn't the last Spider-Man movie," she stated. "We're preparing to make the next Spider-Man film with Tom Holland and Marvel." We're thinking of this as three films, and we'll go on to the next three. "This isn't the end of our MCU films."
The second post-credit sequence in Spider-Man: No Way Home is a promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will be released on May 6, 2022. Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) returns to the Sanctum Sanctorum following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, as a voice in his brain informs him what a mistake it was to meddle with the multiverse. A montage of footage follows, featuring a wedding between Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), a surgeon at the hospital where Strange used to work.
The clip then shows Doctor Strange meeting with Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) to seek for her assistance in repairing the multiverse. Wanda admits to making "mistakes" while thinking Doctor Strange is there to talk about Westview, the community she mind-controlled in WandaVision. Wanda is intrigued and agrees to accompany Doctor Strange when he informs her that he isn't coming to discuss Westview but instead wants her assistance. The teaser then cuts to footage of Doctor Strange and Wanda fighting numerous creatures. Chiwetel Ejiofor also appears in the teaser as Karl Mordo, a former Master of the Mystic Arts and the major antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The teaser concludes with a shocking reveal as Doctor Strange confronts an evil version of himself, also played by Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch named Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the "most ambitious superhero picture" ever in an interview with Variety in 2021.
