Several neighbors in the South Hills and Pittsburgh area reported hearing a loud "boom" and feeling some shaking this morning.
Around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the boom was heard.
The event is now being investigated by many agencies, although little specifics are available at this moment.
While Allegheny County officials recognized a "loud boom," they claim it was not caused by seismic activity, thunderstorms, lightning, or work at Pittsburgh International Airport.
“At this point, we have no explanation for the reports, but agencies are continuing to look,” the county said in a tweet.
Meteorologists are investigating the boom and looking for explanations.
So yet, no evidence of an earthquake or similar seismic activity has been identified.
There has been no information on any present injuries or dangers as a result of this occurrence.
We are now watching the US Geological Survey USGS, which measures earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or above.
Today, none have been found in Pennsylvania.
